Located on Johns Island, our Charleston wedding venue features a quaint, old farmhouse nestled among centuries old, majestic oak trees draped in Spanish moss.

Wingate Place (formerly known as Wingate Plantation) is an outdoor event venue located on Johns Island. We are located just minutes from the lovely Kiawah and Seabrook Islands and a short drive to the Charleston peninsula. Our venue is family owned and operated; and sits on 180 acres of stunning ponds and gorgeous ancient oak trees. Located on the property is a small farmhouse built in the 1930’s. Currently, this house now serves as our meeting space for brides and planners, but more importantly the bridal dressing suite. The house provides a place for our brides and her maids to spend their morning getting their hair and makeup done before the ceremony! In addition, we also have grooms quarters located on the side of our back pavilion. A place for them to hang out, dress, and patiently wait until they are needed for pictures or ceremony time

Wingate’s History

Our family and the Wingate team have enjoyed being a part of the celebration of marriage with our couples and their guests over the last six years. The property holds a special place in our hearts and has been in our family since the early 2000s. Over the years, our family has referred to the property as Wingate. When we opened the venue in 2014, we named it Wingate Plantation. The reason we chose this name is because our property is harvested for timber every seven to ten years, making it a pine plantation.

Over the last couple of years we have received questions about the history of our property. We are always willing to share the information that we have with others. Out of respect for our couples and their guests, we have decided to change the name to Wingate Place. We look forward to continuing joyous celebrations with our couples and their guests in the coming years.
